Hi owners of Panerais with the in-house P.9000 movement. Can we start a thread to see how many *owners here* have so far NEVER had a problem with the movement? You can state that yours have had a problem, but I'm hoping this DOES NOT turn into a discussion on quality or service.
The calibre P.9000 is the Panerai‘s workhorse movement – self-winding with twin barrels and a three day power reserve. It serves as the base for several other complications, including a GMT and chronograph.
In my pre-purchase research I turned up a lot of posts from back in 2011 and 2012 indicating a decent amount of reliability problems with the movement - enough to cause a bit of . The bad news is that the new subs have the P900, which is basically their entry level, no frills movement. No hacking seconds, quick set date, 72hrs reserve. The majority of the movement is unfinished. The good news: Very stable and reliable movement. It is about VSF movements used in Panerai reps. So my understanding is that there are 4 different movements in current VSF reps: P9000 / This is a modified 7750 that was used before 2020. P9000 V2 / This is a true clone in every sense of the way.
